Replacing damaged screen on Toshiba Portege R835 or R830.
STEP 1
Make sure the laptop is turned off.
Unlock and remove the battery.
STEP 2
If you look at the upper side of the screen bezel you'll find four rubber seals.
STEP 3
Remove all four seals with a sharp object. You can glue them somewhere on the screen bezel so they don't get lost.
Remove four screws located under the seals. |
STEP 4
Remove the silver hinge cover from the left hinge.
Remove one screw located under the cover. |
STEP 5
Remove one more cover from the right hinge.
Remove one screw located under the cover. |
STEP 6
Now you'll have to start separating the screen bezel from the display assembly.
I'm using the guitar pick for that. You can use a piece of plastic.
Insert the guitar pick between the bezel and screen and wiggle it until the bezel separates. Continue removing the bezel with your fingers. |
STEP 7
Continue removing the screen bezel on the display sides and after that move to the lower part.
Be careful because the bezel is very fragile. |
STEP 8
Remove the screen bezel. |
STEP 9
Separate the LCD screen from the display back cover and place it on the keyboard/palmrest assembly. |
STEP 10
On the back side of the screen you'll find the video cable connected to the lower part of the screen. |
STEP 11
Unglue the sticky tape securing the connection.
Unplug the video cable from the screen.
STEP 12
Now the damaged/failed LCD screen is ready for the replacement.
Replace the screen and assemble the laptop following all disassembly steps in the reverse direction.
In the next guide I explain how to take apart the case.
