Toshiba Portege Z830 Z835 screen removal.
In the following guide I will be taking apart the display panel on a Toshiba Portege Z835-P330.
In my case the laptop was dropped and the screen got cracked.
Before you start, make sure it's turned off and battery removed. |
STEP 1
I will be using a guitar pick to remove the screen bezel from the display back cover.
Insert the guitar pick under the bezel and carefully start separating it.
STEP 2
Continue removing the bezel with your fingers. Work slowly because it's made of thin plastic.
Wiggle the bezel to unlock hidden latches.
STEP 3
When it's removed on the upper side of the display panel, move to the hinge area. |
STEP 4
Remove the bezel completely. |
STEP 5
There are no screws securing the screen but it's glued to the back cover with adhesive tape.
The tape is located close to the lower left and right corners.
You'll have to apply some reasonable force to separate two parts from each other. |
STEP 6
Separate the screen from the cover and place it the front side down on the keyboard. |
STEP 7
On the back side you can access the display cable connector. |
STEP 8
Remove clear tape securing the connector and unplug the display cable.
Do not pull by the harness. Unplug the connector by the edges. |
STEP 9
You can find a new replacement screen if you search by the model number from the original part.
In my Portege Z835 I had this LCD installed: LTN133AT25-T01.
Assemble the display panel back together by following all steps in reverse order. |
