STEP 1
Before you start confirm if the laptop is turned off.
Unlock and remove the battery. |
|
|
|
STEP 2
Remove one screw securing the memory/hard drive cover on the bottom of the laptop.
Lift up the cover and remove it from the laptop.

|
STEP 3
Under the bottom cover you can access the following laptop components:
- Both memory modules.
- CMOS battery (regular size
coin battery).
- Hard drive.
|
|
|
|
STEP 4
Slide the hard drive to the right in order to disconnect it from the motherboard.
After that lift up and remove the hard drive from the laptop. |

|
STEP 5
Remove one screw securing the DVD drive.
Pull the DVD drive to the right and remove it from the laptop. |
|
|

STEP 6
In the following 4 steps I explain how to remove the keyboard bezel.
You'll find a small hole in the hard drive compartment.
Insert a small screwdriver into the hole and push the keyboard bezel away from the laptop. |

STEP 7
The keyboard bezel will separate from the laptop a little bit.
Continue removing the bezel with your fingers. |
|
|
|
STEP 8
I'm using the guitar pick to lift up and separate the bezel.
Work slowly or you can break the bezel or hidden latches on the bottom. |

|
|
STEP 9
Remove the keyboard bezel from the laptop. |
|
|
|
STEP 10
Remove the keyboard from the laptop and place it upside down on the palmrest.
Be careful. The keyboard still attached to the motherboard. |
|
|
|
STEP 11
Now it's possible to access the keyboard cable connector on the motherboard.
Before you pull the cable it's necessary to unlock the connector. |
|
|
|
STEP 12
In order to unlock the keyboard cable connector lift up the left side of the brown retainer with your fingernail.
The retainer will open up at a 90 degree angle.

STEP 13
Pull keyboard cable from the connector.
Now you can remove the keyboard completely. |

STEP 14
In the following five steps I explain how to remove the laptop bottom cover.
Remove all screws from the bottom of the laptop. |

STEP 15
Remove all screws securing the top cover assembly. |
|
|
|
STEP 16
Start separating the top cover from the bottom cover.
NOTE: In Toshiba Satellite C875/C875D/C870/C870D laptops the motherboard is attached to the top cover. |

|
STEP 17
Turn the laptop upside down and continue separating the bottom cover from the rest of the laptop. |
|
|
|
STEP 18
Remove the bottom cover. |
|
|
|
STEP 19
When the bottom cover removed you can access the following internal laptop components:
- Cooling fan.
- Speakers.
- Power button board.
- DC power jack harness.
- USB board.
- DVD drive connector.
- Touchpad.
- Touchpad button board.
- Motherboard. |
