Toshiba Satellite S955, S955D, S950, S950D screen removal.

Before you start the disassembly process make sure the laptop is turned off.

STEP 1
Unlock and remove the laptop battery.

STEP 2
You will find four screw covers on the screen bezel.
Two plastic covers in the upper left and right corners and two rubber covers in the lower left and right corners.

STEP 3
You can remove the screw cover using a sharp object.
The cover has sticky bottom. After it's removed, glue it somewhere on the bezel so the cover doesn't get lost.
Remove screws found under each cover. |

STEP 4
Remove rubber screw covers.
Remove screws found under rubber covers. |
|
|
|
STEP 5
Carefully insert your fingers between the plastic bezel and LCD screen.
Wiggle the bezel and start separating it from the display assembly. |

STEP 6
Continue separating the bezel. |
|
|
|
STEP 7
You can use a guitar pick to separate the bezel from the display cover. |
|
|
|
STEP 8
Remove the plastic bezel from the display assembly. |
|
|
|
STEP 9
The LCD screen secured to the display cover by four screws.
Remove all four screws. |

|
STEP 10
Separate the LCD screen from the back cover and place it the front side down on the keyboard.
Be careful. The screen is connected to the display cable. |

STEP 11
Now you can access the display cable and disconnect it from the LCD screen.

|
|
STEP 12
Remove sticky tape securing the connection.
Unplug the display cable connector from the screen.
Now you can remove the failed or damaged LCD screen from the laptop and replace it with a new one.

You can search for a new replacement screen using the model number printed on the back of the original screen.
In my Toshiba Satellite S955 laptop I had the following screen installed: B156XW04 v.5
NOTE: there could be more than one LCD model compatible with your laptop.
Assemble the laptop following all disassembly steps in the reverse direction.
