Toshiba Satellite U845, U840 disassembly.
In this guide I show how to remove the bottom cover.
Under the bottom cover you'll be able to access most major internal components. |

STEP 1
On the bottom of the laptop you will find eleven rubber screw covers.
Also, there are two screws hidden under two laptop feet. |

STEP 2
Remove rubber covers using a sharp object.
Remove all screws found under these rubber covers.
|

|
|
STEP 3
Remove two laptop feet.
You'll have to apply some force to remove them. Rubber feet are glued to the laptop case with sticky tape.

STEP 4
Carefully separate the bottom cover from the laptop and remove it. |
|
|
|
STEP 5
Under the bottom cover you can access the following internal components:
- Battery.
- Hard drive.
- Both memory (RAM) modules.
- USB/LAN/Card reader board.
- Cooling fan.
- CMOS battery.
- Wireless card.
- SSD cache module (for system use only).
- Motherboard.

STEP 6
Here's how to remove the hard drive.
Carefully lift up the hard drive.

STEP 7
Disconnect the hard drive cable. |
|
|
|
STEP 8
Toshiba Satellite U845/U840 laptops use low profile 7mm thick hard drives.
|
|
|
|
STEP 9
If you are replacing the hard drive, make sure the new one is slim too. |
